HP Tech support idiocy!
I bought the HP L7780 and specifically paid $100 to get it, rather than the HP7680, because I wanted wireless networking.
I set up the printer — which takes about 30 minutes to go through a VERY ink-intensive “alignment”– used the wireless networking wizard and after the printer found my router, it froze.
The power button didn’t even work.
I restarted the printer. STILL frozen.
I called HP and they gave me the instructions to restore the printer to factory defaults.
This took 30 minutes… plus the new alignment, which took another 30 minutes (and did I mention, A LOT OF INK?).
The support tech walked me through wireless network setup. Same problem.
Another hour to reset everything.
Then, check this out:
He had me MOVE THE PRINTER TO OTHER ROOMS IN MY HOUSE to test it.
I assured him this would make no difference. But he insisted the problem could be “bad electricity.”
Each new test? Another hour wasted.
Took me TEN HOURS to deal with this crap!
At the end… they sent me a new printer.
Needless to say, SAME PROBLEM!
Frankly, I don’t remember if they sent me YET ANOTHER printer (I assured them it wouldn’t make a difference, but they didn’t seem to care about my 25 years in the tech biz).
